B-Brake Project

The roof replacement of a delightful 1950's house, situated in Buckland Brake, Newton Abbot.

The breif for this project was simple. Carefully remove the existing natural slate from the roof and re-use the slate on the three most visible elevations, whilst replacing the least visble for new.

The existing slate was difficult to identify, however we came to the concensus that they are North American, Glendyne slates. The slate was in extermely good condition for its age, it was the only material on the roof still well within its life expectancy.

The specification was simple, with the restoration of three chimneys, reclamation of the existing slate, dry fix ridge and hip systems and a Brazilian natural slate installed to the rear elevation.

The project lasted around two weeks with fair weather.
